Multi-Award Winning Director/Choreographer CHET WALKER is returning to Houston and he’s coming to Uptown Dance!
Garnering acclaim onstage in theaters across the globe, in television, film, music video and all commercial media, Chet made his Broadway debut in the first revival of On the Town. He’s appeared in musicals including The Pajama Game, Pippin, Dancin’ and Sweet Charity on Broadway, and he has directed or choreographed productions of Chicago, 42nd Street, A Chorus Line and Follies (among others). Chet was the co-creator of the 1999 Tony-Award-winning musical Fosse for which he re-created Bob Fosse’s eminent works. It won an Outer Critics’ Circle Award and the Toronto Theater Alliance Award for Choreography. As director/choreographer, Chet created Sweet Charity (with Bob Fosse’s original choreography) in the United States, Holland, Japan, Mexico, Norway and London’s West End. He also recreated the original Bob Fosse choreography for the Chocolate Factory’s London revival of Pippin, directed by Mitch Sebastian.
Chet has been the director of the jazz and musical theater summer dance program at The School at Jacob’s Pillow for 13 years, and he has taught internationally and as a guest faculty member at Steps on Broadway in NYC. He’s the artistic director of the nonprofit musical theater dance company WALKERDANCE, and in May 2012, he remounted Jack Cole’s work in Heat Wave: The Jack Cole Project at the Queens Theatre in New York.
