It is with mixed emotions that we will say goodbye this year to several of our professional dancers and UDC faculty members. We will miss them incredibly, and hope you will join us in wishing them all the best in their future endeavors.

Lindsay Cortner began as a student of Ms. Beth and was a founding member of Uptown Dance Company. After studying in New York in the Fordham/Ailey BFA program, she returned to Houston to dance again with UDC. In addition to her beautiful dancing and choreography, she has also shared her skills as a teacher in our young children’s program and modern classes over the past sixteen years. While dancing with us, Lindsay completed her BA from University of St. Thomas, graduating summa cum laude. She is now preparing to audition for other contemporary dance companies across the United States and we wish her all the best.

Eric Glenn also began as a student of Ms. Beth and returned to dance with the company after graduating from Oklahoma University’s Dance Department and dancing professionally in Boise, Idaho. We will greatly miss Eric’s dancing, teaching, and choreography. Beyond his art, Eric’s super positive and helpful attitude has always made a wonderful difference at Uptown, as he is always willing to lend an extra hand with lighting and production. Eric is planning on going back to school to pursue a graduate degree.

Donald Sayre joined Uptown Dance Company three years ago upon graduating from Belhaven University. We have thoroughly enjoyed having him as a professional artist and have watched him grow and develop into an amazing dancer and partner over the years. We always appreciate his caring and positive attitude around our students. He is now choosing to focus his energies on his massage therapy career, having become certified last year. He also plans to continue as a free-lance artist around Houston.

Emily Roy Sayre, also a graduate of Belhaven University (and married to Donald Sayre), joined Uptown Dance Company two years ago after dancing professionally and choreographing with contemporary dance company Of Moving Colors in Louisiana. Emily has been a wonderful addition to our company, not only dancing but also choreographing twice for Dance Infusion. Additionally, she has taught contemporary and hip hop, while working in the office as well. Along with her husband Donald, she will be pursuing more performing opportunities in the Houston contemporary dance community as a free-lance artist, and will continue teaching dance.

Congratulations to you all!
